“涼宮ハルヒの消失” (via Sankaku Complex)
Never before have I been so excited for an anime/manga-related film — not Evangelion, not 20th Century Boys. They have nothing on Haruhi. Or Yuki, rather. After the disappointment that was Season 2 and its Endless Eight, I thought I had lost all faith in animation studio KyoAni. But with the announcement that the Vanishment arc was to be immortalized in the form of a full-length feature film, all those sentiments evaporated, replaced only by beaming otaku anticipation. The latest teaser trailer only further whets my excitement: in just thirty seconds, a contemplative albeit slightly depressing montage of a displaced Kyon soon explodes into a crescendo of OMGWTF scenes. Minds are fucked, bricks are shat, pants are jizzed. And the segment comes with a release date — 涼宮ハルヒの消失 will hit theaters in Japan on February 6. I can’t wait.
For those of you who don’t know who or what Haruhi is, read this. Now.
