Today’s movie recommendation is, Bleach: The Diamond Dust Rebellion. This movie is about an ancient power that is split between two characters who through their adventures, prove to the ruling council, their worth in possessing and using their awesome abilities. The animated cast features a wide range of individuals who belong to and fit, in uniquely identified pockets of a social hierarchy. Some are weaker, while their places in the status quo offer them significantly more important roles than the ones possessing greater abilities.
This movie features themes such as time paradoxes and transcendental existentialism. The story is captivating, and it appeals to the scientifically oriented and mystically inspired. As a disclaimer, I will mention that it won’t appeal to people who are irrevocably transfixed to the hardcore anthropomorphized animated culture that North American media has stitched into the minds of youths today. Bleach: The Diamond Dust Rebellion is, to put it simply, animated realism poised atop one of its many zeniths.
Another great character that I’m going to mention is Slut Girl by Isutoshi. You’re not going to like it, or even know of it if you don’t like Japanese Comics. It’s vulgar, it’s funny and it’s overwhelmingly entertaining. It’s X-rated so don’t even bother looking for it. It features a character who, through her wily machinations, weaves and shoves her way to financial success. With the help of several friends of course.
Another great animated feature is Akira. It’s old, and it’s not popular with today’s drove of cartoon zombies, but it’s spectacular. It’s extremely violent and it’s filled with amazing imagery. It is one of the biggest Japanese anime films that were for the large part, mostly responsible for inspiring much of what we see in popular anime culture today. Need I mention Kaneda’s bike?
Other notable shows are Robot Chicken, Family Guy and Sailor Moon. Yes, sexy anime chicks in schoolgirl uniforms. I wish they would bring Mazinger Z back. Saber Riders was pretty cool, and so was Silverhawks. Voltes 5. Transformers: More than meets the eye, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Grandizer, Macross SDF 1, Pokemon, Superbook, Dungeons and Dragons, Gi.Joe, and plenty of others. No I will not mention Carebears or The Smurfs. They were for pansies. Though I did like Disney’s Ducktales, Chip n Dale’s Rescue Rangers and Talespin.
In related happenings, there is Miley Cyrus’ video. Miley Cyrus knows what’s up. Even though rap is crap, and e-thuggery is garbage, Miley pulled it off real well. The lyrics have rhyme and she talks about the stupid. Something that I hold very dearly, deep down in the bowels of my cholesterol encrusted heart.
Okay, so Twitter is a useful tool for the brainwashed masses to have a way to chat, but it’s still a stark reflection of nutbags picketing their collectively misguided opinions in a public space. Kinda like WordPress but in 4 sentences or less.
I did a short stint on Twitter a couple of weeks back. I wanted to see what tweeting was all about. I found that when I searched for God, people spammed claims of miracles happening 480 times every minute. It was kind of inspiring. The spam effectively nullified the sporadic whining that is so prevalent in the twitter universe, but they didn’t really offer any real insight to personal experiences. I would really like to know what gave these people the evidence they needed to confirm God’s existence. I can relate to these things. Really I was protected from a near death experience in my younger days, and I believe that it was solely because of God’s love for humanity. God has inspired us to be forgiving. The teachings in the bible promote compassion. Protect the weak and love your brothers. Forget the crusades, forget the Spanish discovery of North America. The Chinese built junks that enabled sea travel YEARS before the Norse travelled this way. They just didn’t find it important to colonize North America. It just wasn’t in their manifest destiny. I would love to say that we should forget violent video games as well, and that violent video games do not harm society in any way, but the problem is, just like in ancient times, we’re living shitty existences; and video games are just accurate reflections of the society we live in today. It’s a dog chasing its own tail paradox where our kids pick up on where we left off and they interpret life to be the garbage we all so pretentiously shift the blame to others as.
Imagine world peace. An existence where we create excitement through the development of evolutionary medical breakthroughs. A society that doesn’t pride itself on the advancement of destructive technologies. Imagine a world where we don’t have to face the possibility of being robbed, or murdered in our city streets. A world where happiness is derived from witnessing the beauty of flowers blooming. A world where we cherish human life without petty arguments marginalizing our worth individually. Why do we inundate ourselves with things such as killing for sport. Or fortune gained by one up-manship? You could justify our need for strength as a passive preparation for an unavoidable extra-terrestrial conflict, but who’s to say that defensive warfare technology can’t be developed in a society where we don’t fight amongst ourselves. Let’s just focus on world peace first, before we prepare for such an epic catastrophe. Things would go so much faster if we weren’t so pre-occupied with fucking the environment, and drawing lines across the proverbial sand. Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone. We’re all guilty.
As a closing statement I’d like to say: Stay off the stupid. You can use and abuse good advice from loved ones to appease your twisted and fleeting desires, but you can’t escape it when it comes back and hits you in the face. Anger management people. We all have the capacity to diffuse inner conflicts. The real challenge is influencing others to strive for world peace.
