probably my most favorite part of this year’s MagFest gamging festival (besides the Sick Damage DEATH PANEL of course,) was the array of videogames. this weekend i really had a good amount of time to play some obscure Japanese only games that i would never even of known existed if it wasn’t for MagFest.
besides the awesome Bemani hands on music arcade machines such as KeyboardMania, Taiko Drum Master, and BeatMania IIDX, there were some interesting fighting games as well.
one particular doujin fighting game for the PC immediately caught my eye. this game is known as “Gleam of Force”.
the game’s controls were quite interesting. it used three buttons. light attack, strong attack, and block. there were also counters, grabs, and dodges. not every character could jump either.
what really captured me was the over the top overly Japanese weeaboo feel to the game. it was extremely well polished. the company known as French-Bread were the creators. you may know some of their previous works such as Ragnarok Battle Offline, Melty Blood, and Glove on Fight.
the game can be illegally torrented and played with your friends using USB controllers. i won’t show you were you can get it due to legal reasons ahaha. definitely something fun to mess around with though.
